It’s a new week, and we are off and running with some outstanding spoken word events at The Magic Tree on Tuesday (08 August) and Wednesday (09 August). First up, as usual, is our beloved Poet Laureate, Russell Eponym – who always brings us marvelous literature, poetry, and music as well as a truly informative Thought for the Day. Come join us at NOON on Tuesday – we’d love to welcome you!
A bit after Russell, at 1:30 PM, the lovely Caledonia Skytower takes the Reader’s Throne and shares with us more from Grahame’s charming Wind in the Willows! We can’t wait to see what Mr. Toad is up to now – and how the other denizens of the forest will deal with it all. Such a wonderful tale, with delightful twists and turns! Cale is a true marvel when it comes to reading. Don’t miss this enchanting hour!
Then, at 2:30 PM…it’s more with Harry Potter and friends as MrG Darkrose brings his vocal talents (which are, by the way, considerable!) to Rowling’s wildly popular Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. The adventures are riveting and the telling outstanding. You’ll want to come along to see just what might happen next in this enthralling story as MrG weaves his own magic spell!
Before we know it, it will be Wednesday…and we have another slate of excellent stories and readings at The Magic Tree! It all starts at 1 PM with master storyteller, Bryn Taleweaver, who this time out regales us with some mystery in what he is calling Sinners…Saints…and ….. It all sounds enticing, and with his great style, it’s sure to be a fascinating hour as we relax under the branches of The Magic Tree, here in the cool glade by the water. Do come join us!
After that, we have yet another treat in store! Exceptional writer and reader Dubhna Rhiadra will share another (and well-anticipated) installment of her completely delightful Alternative Faerytales. This time, there’s a bit of bada$$ery afoot (as if there’s not, usually!). It’s definitely a reading to catch, and we’ll be ready to welcome you at 2 PM. Bring your smiles and titters…we’re sure you’re going to need them!
Stay after Dubhna to enjoy Æon Woodford – sci-fi afficianado that he is – as he takes us deeper in to Ray Bradbury’s masterpiece The Martian Chronicles. We have been enjoying this extraterrestrial adventure (or set of adventures!), and now the intrigue continues! Do join us, as Æon will be changing his reading date & time soon. Of course, we hope you’ll join us then as well, but do grab a seat on the spaceship this week at 3 PM.
Wow! All that great storytelling is so satisfying that we will take a moment to relax and let it all sink in! Russell Eponym will return on Thursday for his weekly 9o minutes of music – LIVE from Wales. This hour-and-a-half of folk, blues, and beyond is quite enjoyable, so come along and join in the fun as Russell thrills us with his amazing musical talents. His unique finger-picking style with the guitar is a delight, and he often brings out the banjo, harmonica, or kazoo…too! Come along as the Eponymous Family of friends gathers for a rousing, charming time at Château Ce Soir.
Don’t forget! The very summery and refreshing BEACHES Art Exhibit remains open at Côte de la Mer Galerie & Lawn. Check below (and soon, above!) for responses to interview questions from these twelve artists. It is so interesting to learn more about their each unique work and perspective. It’s a beautiful exhibit – one we continue to enjoy throughout August. As summer begins its wrap, what better time to enjoy these lovely reflective and representative works. Each is for sale, so you can keep these sweet reminders of summer days at the beach near throughout the year. Do come enjoy! Relax in the gallery (there is a beach chair with your name on it!)…and leave a note in the Guest Book before wandering out to Ce Soir Beach. Stop in at Le Phare – there is an amazing view of the beach and ocean from inside the lighthouse. Beautiful!
