This week takes us into August…can autumn be far behind???

I admit it, I’m an autumn girl! To me, there is nothing like comfy cashmere sweaters (preferably in some shade of soft coral or rich forest green), milktea by the fire, and a glorious view of richly-hued trees blowing in the slightly nippy breeze! Give me an old grey day (one that preferably began with a sunny, turquoise sky), some well-worn boots, and poetry read aloud in a cozy den, and I’m happy!

But, I digress….

We’re still firmly in summertime, and we’ve been enjoying lots of sweet readings in the cool of The Magic Tree gardens by the inlet – and some outstanding music at both Ce Soir Beach (beach parties are FUN!) and at Le Château Ce Soir. This week, we have an array of delightful, outstanding events on both Tuesday and Thursday. Come join us, if you can!

Tuesday at The Magic Tree begins with another special hour with Ce Soir Arts Poet Laureate Russell Eponym. Always bringing along some wonderful music to share, Russell reads the very best selections of prose and poetry imaginable. We love his Thoughts for the Day and readings from the magnificent Zen Guitar by Philip Toshio Sudo and Rules for Life by Richard Templar…plus other readings from across the literary horizon. Humour, drama and all the rest are well-represented in Russell‘s offerings, and you can count on a lovely hour, every week at Noon SLT. The music – sometimes including Russell’s own compositions, often focuses on the work of others. It’s always interesting and special. I’m doing my best to keep a listing, and will share it here one day. In the meantime, pop round and enjoy Russell reading – LIVE from North Wales at The Magic Tree!

This week, we also have a visit planned from the wonderful writer and reader Caledonia Skytower. She – a principal at the beautiful Seanchai Library in Second Life® and other virtual lands – will fly in to grace the reader’s throne and continue her series of readings from Stephen Fry’s work MYTHOS. These are stories of Grecian titans and gods that, in Fry’s telling, become brilliantly entertaining accounts of ribaldry and revelry, love affairs and life lessons, triumphs and tragedies. This week, she will read about Prometheus and the Creation of Humanity. That sounds absolutely fascinating, and we can’t wait! After all, Greek myths are the greatest stories ever. They have been passed down through millennia, and inspiring writers and artists as varied as Shakespeare, Michelangelo, James Joyce, Walt Disney – and Fry – have taken them on and presented them to us in forms that more than pique our interest. Do join us for this reading with Cale – 1:30 PM.

Wrapping up on Tuesday at The Magic TreeÆon Woodford will – at 2:30 PM – take us on another science fiction adventure with Ray Bradbury’s fantastic story “The Flying Machine.” Much more than a thrilling tale, this story challenges us in how we approach the future – and how what we think about the developments and progress of humanity matters. This story raises the important question of how – and if – technology should be monitored or regulated. In the story, whilst there are risks and drawbacks to developing “the flying machine,” the contraption also creates a lot of beauty. In fact, it releases the beauty to the world. Quite a conundrum emerges – and it’s a conundrum we still face, as technology continues to develop. How should it be used? Do we have a say? Interesting!

Come join us for these magnificent readings! We will be happy to welcome you.

Your ride is HERE.

The Magic Tree

Summer fun continues…!

Like most folks living in the Northern Hemisphere, we’re busy with summer activities in the physical realm as well as in-world in Second Life®. It’s a time of rest and relaxation too, and the company of family and friends makes for happy days – even if it is a bit warm out. It has been HOT weather, but this week seems a bit cooler, and we’ll take the relief! Of course – as Æon so often reminds us – it’s always a balmy 72°Fahrenheit at Ce Soir Arts! So…come round to enjoy some of our offerings or just to dance to the music that’s always playing – or take a break under a shady tree or out on the beach.

The region is open, and there is much to see and enjoy. On the base region where Château Ce Soir, The Magic Tree, Dover Beach Theatre and the (on summer hiatus) four art galleries are located, you’ll also find Le Phare – a beautiful lighthouse space with a spectacular view of the shore – and other interesting spots including the Witchwood Hollow Cemetery, Mermaid Cove, and some below-ground (and rather spooky) dungeons to explore. Above, you’ll find the cool and refreshing wintry escape! The Conservatory is a cozy spot where sometimes you’ll find a music show, reading, or art exhibit. When nothing is scheduled, it’s a lovely spot for relaxing and dancing – inside and out in the snow! Also located there is The Oracle Parlour, a spot reserved for readings and gatherings; it is filled with some of my photographic work and poetry. I hope you’ll stop in and enjoy – because even though we are taking some time away, we regularly attend to things on the region; it is, after all, our home – and the place we enjoy so much!

Visit these two spots: Le Phare and Wintry Escape.

This week’s activities will be noted in an upcoming post. We hope to see you!

A new week…more reading adventures – and a spot of musical magic!

We’re still excited about the release of ARRIVALS & DEPARTURES machinima…so please read the previous posting for details about this spectacular production from one of our favourites (who will read next week at The Magic Tree): Caledonia Skytower. If you’ve not yet viewed the machinima…get going! Useful links are in that previous post….

This week, we have a treat: ME! Well, it’s not really ME that’s the treat, but what I will be reading! Catwings, by the wonderful Ursula K. Le Guin, will lift you up and set your spirit aflight! It’s truly one of the sweetest children’s tales I have ever read (and that’s saying something!). Come join me on Tuesday, following another stellar hour with our beloved Poet Laureate of Ce Soir Arts, Russell Eponym. He will read and share his outstanding talents with literature and music at NOON SLT, and I will follow with my 30-minute reading at 1 PM. Don’t miss this charming time at The Magic Tree!

On Wednesday, Bryn Taleweaver will share an amazing reading from the 13th Century Scandinavian Thidrekssage. The tale outlines how Wayland, Master Smithy, sought to right injustice. It’s a thrilling story, complete with requisite drama and battle! With Bryn‘s deft telling…it’s going to be quite a ride! Join us at 1 PM!

At 2 PM, Dubhna Rhiadra will treat us to another story or two from her collection of personal writings and those of others who bring fantasy to a new level. We always enjoy Dubhna‘s stories, and her inimitable style makes them all the more enjoyable. Come gather as she regales us once more with tales of wonder!

Then, at 3 PM, Æon will bring us another of Ursula K. Le Guin’s marvellous sci-fi adventures – with a twist. “The Rule of Names” focuses on two main concepts: the idea that appearances can be deceiving and the idea that words can hold mystical power. This relates well to ARRIVALS & DEPARTURES and brings us full circle for the week!

On Thursday, Russell Eponym will fill Château Ce Soir with the sounds of magic as he brings his beautiful finger-style guitar-playing and velvety vocals to the stage. Friends will gather at 2 PM SLT for another 90-minute show filled with delight. You will enjoy Russell’s music – much of it written by himself – and his sweet banter! See you there!

Check the schedule and teleports below for a beautiful week at Ce Soir Arts! Do note: galleries are on summer hiatus, but some sweet summery photographs are on display at Côte de la Mer Galerie – and some spooky works linger at Ivy Tower. Come enjoy, relax, dance, and explore the region! Grab the LM notecard at landing points…and have fun!

Something special – Arrivals & Departures machinima now available for viewing!

This year, during LitFest at Fantasy Faire – that annual event that brings everyone together in support of the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life (RFL of SL) – attendees were invited to travel the fairgrounds (all regions) to find inspiration for writing. Poetry and stories were written that have brought much beauty to our world. Under the direction of Saffia Widdershins and committee including Caledonia Skytower, LitFest has indeed become one of the most beloved aspects of the annual Fantasy Faire experience.

As noted, many pieces of writing were brought to life during the event. People wrote reflections on the beauty of the regions, of their meaning and personal impact. Memories were stirred and hopes for the future – one without cancer – were embraced. Each one of these literary creations has meaning for us all – and one very special one has found its way to the cinema.

A wonderfully moving story, written by Caledonia (among many that she and others penned during the event), has been produced as a machinima by the new collaboration, CEH Partners Productions. Caledonia (Judith Cullen) and her partners – Elrik Merlin and Honey Heart – were energised by this amazing story, and put their collective artistic talents to work. The end result of weeks and weeks of brainstorming and exploration is the machinima ARRIVALS & DEPARTURES. It’s a stunning film and the story is richly told in every meticulous frame. Filmed at the gorgeous build – Erstwhile Station – created by the exceptional creative team of Marcus Inkpen and Sharni Azalee, this tale of two journeys intersecting at a critical moment will touch your heart.

You must see it, and to that end, we here provide links to take you there. Please do not miss this opportunity to be moved and enchanted by the magic that is this production – and the wonder it holds. Æon and I were honoured – along with a host of friends including OldeSoul Eldemar (himself a great supporter of RFL of SL in his work with the Tinies community – and beyond) and Wildstar Beaumont (whose legendary artistry is shown in his still photography for the project) – to serve in a supportive capacity. As extras in the film, Æon, I, and OldeSoul had a wonderful time, and Wildstar contributed his talents as well, some of which you can see in the machinima.

Visit the one of these URLs that best suits your computer in order to view this beautiful machinima. Its message of hope and the importance of story in our lives is precious and powerful. Enjoy it, and let Caledonia know its impact. IM her in-world or let us hear from you. It is a joy to share this information. Be blessed by your engagement with this marvellous story! Visit also the blog of Inara Pey for an outstanding article and review of the film at Living In a Modem World to learn more.

More spoken word delights us at The Magic Tree this Tuesday…with quite a collection of stories – and more!

The summer moves along into its second half, and the weather keeps pace with heat in many places around the globe – except for those in the southern hemisphere who are deep into winter. EUR and the USA are rather warm, these days, as the mercury climbs to the century mark in many locales. In other words…it’s HOT!

So…we escape to the temperate zone of Ce Soir Arts, where – as Ǣon likes to remind us – it’s always a balmy 72°F! And this week, there are more marvelous events to enjoy! Check the Tuesday schedule below and come join us under the branches of The Magic Tree!

NOON – RUSSELL EPONYM
The Poet Laureate of Ce Soir Arts offers excellent music and outstanding prose and poetry from his own pen as well as that from classical masters. The Thought for the Day is always encouraging, the literature beautifully read and compelling. He’s reading Stig of the Dump by Clive King. It’s an adventure! Satisfy your curiosity and come gather with friends to enjoy!

1:30 PM – CALEDONIA SKYTOWER
Stephen Fry’s Mythos is in store for us this week – and likely again in future, as it’s quite a tome – and a delightfully informative one! Caledonia reports “No one loves quarrels, desires and deceives as boldly and brilliantly as Greek gods and goddesses.” We’ll have a happy look into their world as Cale reads for us at  The Magic Tree. We will be happy to see you!

2:30 PM: ǢON WOODFORD
This week, Ǣon has a very unique and riveting story to tell – from the pen of sci-fi master Ray Bradbury. There’s tomfoolery afoot…and MURDER. There’s a fright around every corner, and no detective to solve the mysteries. Join us as sci-fi afficianado Ǣon reads the “The Whole Town’s Sleeping” and gives us the chills in the offing! You will be guessing…until the very end!

It’s going to be a fantastic time at The Magic Tree. Come, be inspired tonight!

Relay for Life of Second Life is off and running! Be sure to donate all you can to this important cause!

We have many friends who take an active role with RFL of SL – RELAY FOR LIFE OF SECOND LIFE – with the non-profit support organisation the American Cancer Society. One year, we hosted an art auction and hope to do something like that again. Like many residents, we donate wherever we can – at music venues, shops, and various events around the grid. Relay is fun – and serious business. Likely, you know someone affected by cancer…it might even be you or someone very dear to you. This connection is why we Relay; to support those experiencing the illness and their families – to fund research to find the cures we desperately need – and to celebrate the victories of survivors!

Many people work tirelessly for this very important cause, and we thank them all! Two of our favourites are OldeSoul Eldemar and Wildstar Beaumont, both of whom  put forth great effort through the team Aether Chrononauts Tiny Steps. These folks are some of the sweetest, most caring people you would ever like to meet! Talented and spirited, they bring their best to this effort, and their devotion is inspiring! You can donate, and their page is HERE. To learn more about RFL of SL, click HERE!

RELAY this year is coming soon…in fact, the season began some time ago, as teams gathered to plan and develop the regions for the event. The SCHEDULE is HERE! The Opening Ceremony will be at 10 AM SLT on Saturday, 14 July. Attend and start relaying! Purchase Luminaria along the way to honour those you may have lost to the disease and to celebrate those who are joyous survivors. Attend as many events as possible – and please donate! Every L$ matters – and your caring counts! Thank you!

Mostly spoken word at Ce Soir Arts this week…summer hiatus has hit!

It’s time for a little more downtime for us. It’s been a very busy year, and now the HEAT in the physical realm has become all but intolerable. YIKES! So…it might be a wee bit quieter this week – but still filled with excellence and enjoyment for all. Do note that the galleries are on summer hiatus until some time in August. There are, however, some sweet summery scenes to be enjoyed at Côte de la Mer Galerie – and some spookiness lingering at Ivy Tower. Stop by and relax with something pretty to view and enjoy!

Summer Rest at Starry Night Island

Tuesday always brings the wonder of sweet readings and music from the Poet Laureate of Ce Soir Arts, the inimitable Russell Eponym. He will have much to share this week, as always. He is reading Stig of the Dump by Clive King. It’s a delightful story, filled with moments of intrigue and more! We love it when he reads from Zen Guitar, a book of life instruction by Philip Toshio Sudo; it’s written in segments with quotations from some of the world’s greatest guitar virtuosos – and it’s fascinating. There is usually some classical or modern poetry as well as ideas and ponderings from Russell as he shares his own Thought for the Day. It’s a charming hour and you will be welcome to join us at The Magic Tree – NOON SLT.

Wednesday brings STORYTIME at The Magic Tree, and presently we have three readers joining us, on a fortnightly schedule. However, Dubhna is traveling, and won’t be reading this day. These hours are devoted to fine storytelling from across the literary horizon. This week we have the following:

At 1 PM SLT, Master Storyteller Bryn Taleweaver will read a story about vampires that is bound to garner our attention. His beautiful reading style – complete with an array of dialects – will enliven the story The Lady of the House of Love by prolific writer Angela Carter. Join us for another fascinating hour with Bryn.

Up at 2 PM, we will enjoy another hour with sci-fi afficianado Æon Woodford, who continues his tribute to writer Ursula K. Le Guin. This time, he shares her work Solitude, which examines the differences between cultural generations whilst developing a complex alien world. Individuality above all else reigns…despite the confusion that stems from the common intergenerational conflicts in families. It’s a rich read, so come enjoy!

The Magic Tree…Ready for a Reading!

Thursday will roll around and give us an opportunity to gather at Château Ce Soir to enjoy 90 minutes of superb live music with Russell Eponym! We look forward to this, every week, so come on over and see what all the excitement is about! Russell is a master guitarist with a beautiful and unique fingerstyle that – along with his velvety vocals – fills the hall with magic! Come gather with friends as we dance and chat and enjoy!

Summer Nights at Château Ce Soir

Here’s the schedule – and your rides:           The Magic Tree          Château Ce Soir

It’s beach party time at Ce Soir Arts!

Thursday is going to be fun. It will be one day after the big US celebration of Independence Day, but the party will go on!

Come hear Russell Eponym at 2 PM SLT – 90 minutes of lively folk, blues & beyond with a delightful audience of friends! LIVE from Wales at Château Ce Soir. His talents with beautiful fingerstyle guitar, the harmonica, and various other instruments make Russell a consummate musician. His velvety voice is a joy to hear, and his friendly banter a delight. Always fun with Russell and friends! TP on over HERE!

Then, after a short break, we’ll be back – but at Ce Soir Beach! We’ll have a rockin’ beach party going, starting at 5 PM SLT, when Donn DeVore will take the stage to thrill us with TWO HOURS of amazing tunes – some of them his very own compositions! Donn is a professional musician and recording technologist who can make guitars, keyboards, and synthesizers sing! His own vocals are spot-on in an amazing range that allows him to present unique shows that thrill his audiences. Come on over and enjoy these two hours with Donn. The music…the fireworks…oh, yah!

Anj Gustafson is on vacation, so Donn was gracious enough to take his time slot at 6 PM, extending his show to two glorious hours. It’s going to be a fantastic evening, so get on your beachwear and join us HERE!

NUVOLINO will be up at 7 PM SLT, bringing his signature sound for us to chill to as the night moves along. Outstanding original trance and ambient sounds will bring the night to a very cool close. Kick off your sandals and flip-flops, grab a cool drink and get ready to chill! The beat will move you to MOVE…so be ready for more dancing and fun at Ce Soir Beach! As the stars come out, the fireworks keep flying! We’ll see you there!

The week looks good at Ce Soir Arts as summer continues to heat up!

It’s REALLY summer in the US – and relatives in EUR are having a heat wave too. Our friends in the Southern Hemisphere are experiencing winter…and I admit I am a bit jealous. I am NOT a summer girl, unless I can be at the beach all the time! We’ll be having some beach parties coming up…so stay tuned!

This week has some rich spoken word experiences at The Magic Tree. Of course, Poet Laureate Russell Eponym will read for us and share amazing music. This Tuesday at NOON, the music will come from Tri Yann, a beautiful Breton folk music band that will sing to us en français. We can’t wait to hear them – and to enjoy his eclectic reading that will this week include a reading from Zen Guitar by Philip Toshio Sudo (a stunning book of thoughts from professional guitarists that are about guitar-playing…and life). We love Zen Guitar – and Russell does a stupendous reading from it. It goes along with his Thoughts for the Day which always give us much to consider. He’s reading Clive King’s Stig of the Dump too – and we’re early in the fascinating story of two accidental friends – so come enjoy! There will be some poetry to go with all this, and it’s guaranteed to be delightful!

Wednesday has some amazing offerings at The Magic Tree as well. Master Storyteller Bryn Taleweaver has something very special from Roald Dahl – two stories of unease that will have us on the edge of our seats. His readings – complete with outstanding dialects and vocal intonations – are always a joy, and this is going to be exceptional. So much so that we plan to ask him to find a couple more of these Dahl tales for his next reading too! Come enjoy Bryn at 1 PM SLT; it’s a grand hour!

Dubhna Rhiadra will have us leaning in to explore with her more of the fantastic NOT SO Tales that are decidedly not based on Kipling’s Just-So Stories. They are unique and engaging to beat the band! Her telling is magical and the messages in the stories come crystal clear as we wander through them with her. It’s always an hour of message-rich fantasy that we all enjoy in the mystical atmosphere of The Magic Tree. This week is a wrap on this series – and you do not want to miss it. Come for Bryn at 1 – and stay!

Æon has something special too, as he continues his tribute to the recently deceased science fiction talent Ursula K. Le Guin. Today, he will share an incredible story that has its roots in what was known as the “velvet revolution” in Prague, 1989. This story echoes the experience of Vaclav Havel and his compatriots as they spoke out for freedom from overbearing rule. Their signal of unity – shaking their keys overhead on meeting – because the title of this riveting and important historical story: “Unlocking the Air.”

Thursday at 2 PM, Russell Eponym returns to Château Ce Soir with 90 minutes of the charming “folk, blues and beyond,” which is his unique collection of historical folk tales set to music including covers by outstanding musicians like Donovan, Dylan, and Dire Straits. Sweet melodies and toe-tapping tunes showcase his unique finger-picking guitar, his velvety voice, and much much more! Add the delightful Eponymous family of friends who gather to enjoy, and you are in for a charming hour-and-a-half. Be inspired tonight!

Here’s the schedule! We hope to see you!

SL15B Draws to a Close…What fun we had!

Every year, we celebrate the birthday of Second Life™. It’s always fun and a way to honour the work of many who beautify and enrich our world with art, music, and exciting and educational experiences. It’s such a vast world now – much larger and more engaging than ever before. Technological advancements have enhanced everything from landscapes to avatars – and everything in-between.

Do you remember your original avatar? Mercy! We remember ours – and I had to dig far back in the archives to find these! Hope you enjoy a little travel-back with us! I could not find our original avatar photos – but I was the little girl with the ponytail, wearing the pink dress with the white polka-dots! It was just a few days before I made friends with a marvelous creator – Lorac Farella – who owned Pulse Skins. She was so kind to me and to AEon…and we looked so much better for years using her creations! We miss her presence here, but hope she and her Bliss-man will return one day! (AEon was just a basic male avatar to begin, but he made a nice transformation with Lorac’s help too!)

Ǣon & Mireille in 2009, just two months after signing up!

So, if you missed it, SL15B regions are still open. Check here for LMs – and GO! Just because you missed the return of SKYE GALAXY, there’s still lots to be enjoyed. (And keep your eyes peeled for some more shows from SKYE. Join his group for the information!)

The galleries are on hiatus, but some fantasy works by Xanthe Firehawk remain to be enjoyed for a bit longer. Grab the notecard from Mr. Crane and be sure to check out areas above including the snowy retreat – and below for some intrigue…!

Summer Nights at Château Ce Soir

Tuesday brings marvelous readings to The Magic Tree!

The Poet Laureate of Ce Soir Arts, RUSSELL EPONYM, is yet on vacation. He will miss one more reading at The Magic Tree this Tuesday, but will return Thursday to provide us with a marvelous show of Folk, Blues, and Beyond at Château Ce Soir. Do join us at 2 PM.

BUT…this Tuesday at The Magic Tree will be special indeed! Caledonia Skytower will join us at 1:30 PM with an hour of wonderful short stories by Neil Gaiman. His award-winning writing is wonderful to read – and to hear when Cale reads for us. Her command of his work is stellar, and her readings are always special. Do join us!

Then, Æon will read more Robert Sheckley science fiction – ONE SHORT-SHORT story that will rock your world. Beside Still Waters is a stunning piece of literature that is deeply moving and deals with the idea of artificial intelligence, robotics, and travel to remote areas where people can be very, very alone in the vastness of space.

Do join us for these unique readings on Tuesday, HERE.

This Wednesday’s Readings Are Do-Not-Miss!

Our Poet Laureate, Russell Eponym is taking a bit of time out to do some summer travelling – this time, right in EUR. He’ll be visiting the motherland: France, and will no doubt, have a marvelous time! He will miss his readings at The Magic Tree on both 12 and 19 June, returning on 26 June at his regular time of NOON SLT. He will also miss his musical show on Thursday, 15 June – but only that – and will return with more fabulous folk, blues, and beyond on 22 June at 2 PM SLT. We bid Russell a fond adieu with warm wishes for a lovely holiday!

This week, then, since the Thursday schedule for this week was Russell only, WEDNESDAY, 13 June, RULES! It will be a beautiful set of readings from three of the grid’s best in literature! The schedule is noted below; do join us!

WEDNESDAY STORY TIME AT THE MAGIC TREE

1 PM: BRYN TALEWEAVER – “Who says poetry can’t be fun?”Master storyteller Bryn Taleweaver will read at The Magic Tree with poetic FUN – a sweet collection of humourous writings to delight! He will share  some of the funniest and craziest poems, from Spike Milligan to Lewis Carroll! Don’t worry, as Winnie the Pooh will have a starring role in this hilarious hour! Come along for all the fun!

2 PM: DUBHNA RHIADRA – More Tales at The Magic Tree DUBHNA reads for us tales based on Rudyard Kipling’s amazing “Just So” series. It is adventure in rare form under the mystical telling that Dubhna always brings. As usual, the tales this week are riveting and fanciful at the same time. Do come join us for a fantastic time as we eagerly gather under the branches of The Magic Tree!

3 PM: ǢON WOODFORD – A Tribute to Ursula Le Guin The story NINE LIVES is one of few stories written by Le Guin described as “hard-core” science fiction; it uses the theme of cloning to explore the concept of the “self.” The story explores the use of technology to illustrate ethical and sociological dilemmas, in addition to examining ideas of humanity and consciousness through the themes of cloning, exploration, paranoia, and disaster. Join us for this continuing tribute to one of our favourite writers; she will be missed.

☆TUESDAY at The Magic Tree
NOON – RUSSELL EPONYM: Poetry & Song – LIVE from Wales
Come enjoy an enchanting hour with Russell as he explores the worlds of literature and music! It’s always enchanting and a marvellous time with friends. Come join us!

1:30 PM – CALEDONIA SKYTOWER reads Neil Gaiman
“Fortunately, the Milk” has aliens, pirates, dinosaurs and wumpires in it (but not the handsome, misunderstood kind), also a never-adequately-explained-bowl-of-piranhas, and  a Volcano God. Yikes!

2:30 PM – ǢON WOODFORD: Sardonic Sci-Fi by Sheckley
“The Seventh Victim” is an entertaining story of a world where wars have been rendered obsolete by personal death matches. This idea rocked the genre in the 1950s – and it’s still a bit unsettling….

Wednesday readings you do not want to miss – 30 May at The Magic Tree

Every-other-Wednesday, we host three of the grid’s talented readers at The Magic Tree. They are unique and provide a range of readings – from the fanciful to the culturally challenging. Here’s what they have on tap for us this time out!

BRYN TALEWEAVER is a favourite at The Magic Tree – and wherever he reads. This Englishman has a command of his readings, and he enriches each one with spot-on dialects and accents. His various voices bring out the characters in the tales he tells, and this week it’s all about GHOSTS from writer M. R. James. It’s thrilling and chilling – but in a unique style.

Up next, DUBHNA RHIADRA, another choice writer and reader, brings us a beautiful fantasy based on Rudyard Kipling’s “Just-So” stories. We hear she may come as one of her lovely tiny avatars; I had to update the photo as soon as I had it! The reading is guaranteed to be a delight, so pop on over and join us!

THEN…sci-fi afficianado ÆON WOODFORD continues his multi-session Tribute to famed writer Ursula K. Le Guin with a marvellous telling of SEMLEY’S NECKLACE. These readings of Le Guin’s science fiction, poetry, and children’s stories are a delight. Her spirit and style will sorely be missed. Fortunately she left us much to enjoy!

Drop on over to The Magic Tree on Wednesday, for three hours of exceptional spoken word. We will be pleased to welcome you!

Thursday shows in a holiday mood as Memorial Day approaches in the US!

A NOTE worth noting:

As this week nears the weekend, those in the US begin to focus on a traditional holiday known as Memorial Day, honouring those who have died in military service. The placing of flowers and other mementos at the graves of missing family members (military or civilian) is part of the day. Visiting National Cemeteries is a wonder, as seas of white crosses mark the graves. Other events such as running events are sponsored by a variety of non-profit organisations. One event is sponsored by “wear blue: run to remember,” and information can be found HERE. Whatever you do, take a moment to remember those who have served and are serving still – and their families – as well as your own loved ones whom you remember so well.

We hope the weather will be good and that you can gather with family and friends. Have a wonderful weekend!

She shares more of her writings today from Fantasy Faires 2016, 2017, and 2018 at The Magic Tree. We will be happy to see you!

Raglan Shire Annual Artwalk Open for 2018!

There are several recurring events in Second Life© that help us explore and support the creativity of SL© denizens. One of those is the Raglan Shire Artwalk that opened for 2018 this past weekend. This is the 13th of these quite extensive art events, and it will be open from 13 May to 17 June. You must go and enjoy!

Like last year, I decided to place a few pieces of my photography there and take some long walks through the pathways the lovely Tinies community have created for display. It’s a fantastic event, and I hope you’ll attend.

For information about the Artwalk, check the Raglan Shire Facebook Page; the calendar of events is included – and you can visit at any time and enjoy the art, much of which is for sale. Learn more about SL© artists and expand your artistic horizon by visiting and exploring this extensive exhibition. Be sure to thank the Tinies for all their work!
